By the time ChatGPT arrived, the stakes were plain: Marathi was entering the new AI systems because it had books, users, subtitles—years of accumulated text. Bhili had none of that, and the absence was historical, not natural. She once messaged someone at Google to ask whether they could simply put Bhili in. A childish question, she calls it; the answer was data.
